S/S: Cinical manifestations observed depend entirely on the site of infection;
are similar to infections caused by other related Gram Negative Bacilli eg.
E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter sp., Serratia, Proteus; Endotoxin may be res-
ponisble for most, if not all of symptoms observed; Rarely possible to make
a differential diagnosis based on any distinctive clinical characteristics;
Source: Water, soil, humans, Animal GI tract; Gm Neg Rods arrange in Singles,
and may be part of noromal flora;
May cause bacteremia, Lower RTI, UTI, gastroenteritis;
- typcially, a heavily encapsulated organism which resists phagocytosis;
