Descending Genicular Branch of superficial femoral artery

- Discussion:
    - descending genicular artery  arises superomedially from from superficial femoral artery  just proximal to adductor hiatus, and then immediately, it
             divides into the saphenous and articular branches;
    - saphenous branch anastomosises w/ medial inferior genicular artery;
    - articular branch: descends in the substance of the vastus medialis;
            - it supplies vastus, & then pass over patellar surface to anastomose with other genicular arteries; (see Genicular art. system)

Safe zone for the descending genicular artery in the midvastus approach to the knee

Spontaneous recurrent haemarthrosis following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and its successful treatment by coil embolisation.
