- Discussion:
- Tibial Plateau Frx Menu
- condition of fibula, whether frxed or intact, determines angulatory behavior of these frx under wt bearing and functional conditions;
- isolated frx of lateral plateau w/ intact fibula do not tend to collapse further because of the support of the fibula;
- in contrast, frxs of both lateral plateau and fibula have tendency to collapse into valgus because of the loss of support of the fibula;
- fractures of both condyles do not collapse or angulate when proximal fibula is fractured and displaced;
- however, if fibula is intact, the medial plateau usually collapses creating a varus deformity
