Single Photon Absorptiometry

- Discussion:
    - may be used as a screening test since it is simple and inexpensive;
    - will predict future forearm, calcaneus, & most appendicular frx;
    - in appendicular skeleton, single-photon absorptiometry has good reproducibility (1-3 %);
    - of note, bone density of the radius reflects total body calcium and may be used to predict fractures at other sites
