- stimulant laxative; 
- for use in acute constipation due to narcotics, with prolonged bed rest; 
- Adult: 5-15mg PO, or 10mgPR PRN; or 1-2 (5mg tabs) 
- PO dose usually works in 6-12 hrs, PR dose usually works in < 1 hr; - Peds: < 2yrs: 5mg PR; >2yrs: 5-10 mg PO or PR
