Abductor Hallucis

Origin

  • medial process of the calcaneus, flexor retinaculum, plantar aponeurosis and intermuscular septum.

Insertion

  • joins with the medial tendon of the flexor hallucis brevis into the plantar half of the medial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the great toe.

Action

  • Abducts the great toe from the medial line of the foot.
