- Discussion:
- all seven cervical vertebra and the C7-T1 junction are visualized;
- Technique:
- patient is supine. head is straight in the neutral position;
- central beam is directed horizontally to a point 2.5 - 3.0 cm caudal to the tip of the mastoid;
- if unable to visualize the entire C-spine:
- pts shoulders can be depressed by pulling down on their hands from foot of table, or having pt pull their own shoulders down by
looping stockinette under their feet and holding it in their hands;
- Swimmers view:
- pt is positioned as in the Cross Table Lateral except arm nearest the cassette is abducted overhead;
- shoulder closest to the beam is depressed;
- central beam is directed horizontally into the axilla
