Medial Oblique Axial View



- Discussion:
    - demonstrates the middle and posterior facet of sub-talar joint;
    - taken with the foot dorsiflexed, inverted, and internally rotated 60 deg;
    - Broden described a similar projection w/  limb internally rotated 45 deg;
          - he recommended taking 4 exposures with the x-ray tube angled 40 degrees, 30 deg, 20 deg, and 10 deg cephalad to see all aspects of posterior facet from front to back;

- Technique:
    - patient is supine;
    - foot is passively dorsiflexed with a strap, inverted, and internally rotated 60 deg;
    - central beam centered 1 inch anterior and 1 inch distal to the tip of the lateral malleolus with a 10 deg cephalic tilt;
        - roentgenogram is tilted 10 deg cephalad and centered 1 inch anterior and 1 inch distal to the tip of the lateral malleolus
