- Discussion:
- may be secondary to degeneration;
- symptoms include pain, tenderness, and erythema;
- treatment includes heat, rest, injections/aspirations, and surgery for larger deposits;
- calcinosis circumscripta occurs in SLE, RA, and scleroderma, usually in fingers, & may be assoc w/ Raynaud's phenomenon;
- Calcification in a Lesion:
- suggests a caverous hemangioma, with phleboliths, tumoral calcinosis, soft tissue chondroma, Synovial Chondromatosis, and calcification being seen with dermatomyositis, secondary hyperparathyroidism, hypervitaminosis D, idiopathic hypercalcemia, or milk alkali syndrome;
- Treatment: treatment may include partial excision
