- Pearls:
    - reconstruction of the proximal tibia following tumor resection is associated w/ a high rate of complications;
    - a major unsolved problem involves reattachment of the extensor mechanism;
          - patellar tendon reattachment to a prosthesis is generally unsuccessful;
          - w/ allografting of the proximal tibia, consider transfer of the extensor mechanism into the medial gastrocnemius, w/ postop immobilization in extension;
